Today I'm......

Hunting for accommodation for when I do my Ben Nevis Mountain Challenge
Totalling up my sponsorship monies (£270 + cash match)
Working out what I need to buy (fleece, waterproofs, maps, survival bag)
Thinking I must be a nutter to have voluntered to do all this in the first place

PS I didn't see 5:30 but I made 6am!

Don't Panic.....

All is well in the world of the Ben Nevis Mountain Challenge, you will be pleased to know after yesterday's scary message. It seems they merely wanted my sister's name, so they could put us in the same team (they had split the application forms up and filed them alphabetically and as we now have different surnames....). So, gulp, it means I'd better get some more training underway, as things have gone a little astray just lately in that department. I'm even, gulp, thinking about getting up at 5:30 tomorrow to do some exercise before work. Yes, I know, I'm mad.......!

I Hope It's not bad news......

I received a message from Marie Curie re the Ben Nevis mountain climb, apparently there's a problem with my application, which doesn't bode well. Unfortunately they were closed by the time I picked up the message, so I will have to wait until tomorrow, to find out what the problem is. I think I will hang off booking my accommodation, until I speak to them!
PS Why do people leave messages at 5:10 to tell you that they're closing at 5:30, when they've had all day to ring???

Normal Service Will Be Resumed Soon!

This week I've been taking a break and doing nothing whatsoever to do with the blog, my novel etc, etc, which has just included a weekend away in Wales, where I bought a bookmark made from sheep poo (see told you it had nothing to do with the blog). Next week I will be writing furiously to catch up with my 500 word a day novel writing and planning my upcoming events on my task list.....honest!

Something Missing ......

I've felt really strange this week and I couldn't quite put my finger on why. I've checked my bank statements, paid my credit card bill, stepped up my exercise routine, but still didn't feel right. Then I realised what it was ............. I haven't written any of my novel for the last four days and I'm having withdrawal symptoms. A marathon writing session at the weekend beckons, me thinks!

That's What Friends Are For.....

I met my friend Heather tonight for a bite to eat and general girlie gossip.
After we had finished catching up on all our news, Heather casually drops into the conversation
"By the way, did I tell you I'm going to Wimbledon?"
"Mmm, no you didn't, but did you know that's on my list of things to do?" I replied hopefully.
Unfortunately Heather did not take the hint, but if anyone else has spare tickets .............

Maybe Baby

So the conversation went like this.

"Mmm, kids are playing out in the street again"

"Yep"

"It's about time we started to think about kids"

"Mmmm"

"Cos neither of us, is getting any younger"

The cheek!

But it made me think.....If I am fortunate to have children, then I am going to be an old Mum, I have no choice in that, but and it's a big but, I want just do a few more things off my list before I do. I want to go and work in Africa and tour America. I want to stand in Times Square on New Years Eve and I want to go to Ayres Rock on a Harley Davidson. It's that wrong to want to do this?

Stop Press

I received a package yesterday at work - one of those really annoying ones that someone had sellotaped all the way round, so you couldn't get in it. I never usually receive anything interesting at work, so I got a little excited and then I managed to get into the parcel ........

I'm now the proud owner of a cap and t-shirt from my place of work, as well as receiving confirmation that they will cash match my Ben Nevis sponsorship and no I couldn't contain myself either when I saw what was inside the package!

Guess What?

My evil twin won! I am now the proud owner of a Ferrari experience, well at least I will be when the paperwork comes through the post.

It's also my blog birthday today - this blog is officially one year old today! Just think this time last year, I'd not appeared on Radio Nottingham, I wasn't married and this blog was just a small project that I thought I would get bored with very quickly!
Hope you've enjoyed the show so far - there's plenty more to come!

Decisions, Decisions

I need to still buy walking gear for my Ben Nevis Mountain challenge on June 1st. The sensible person in me, knows that this is a priority, above anything else on my list.

My evil twin really wants me to spend the money driving this baby.
If I purchase the driving experience today, I get 20% off.
Mmmm, what would you do?

White Chocolate Cookies & Frenchy Phil

I was desperately thinking how I could work 'making white chocolate cookies' into my blog and then my friend Frenchy Phil rang. Frenchy it seems has had the news today that he may be made redundant. Never one to dwell on things, Frenchy has an idea of what he would like to do, if and when this happens - he will teach French to beginners. Guess who will be his first pupil? Now where's that white chocolate cookie to celebrate another task organised!

Not To Be

I rang the RSC in Stratford, as David Tennant is starring in this summer's production of Hamlet. Brilliant I thought, Hamlet is my favourite Shakespearean play, David Tennant is my favourite Dr Who, another tick off my list! Only problem is the tickets have been on sale since October of last year and it's a complete sell out. As there is nothing else I want to see this year, it looks like another task has to be put on the back burner for next year - bummer!

My Childhood Heroes

Of course there was Donny, Leif and even the Bay City Rollers. But one of my early childhood heroes was this guy - Tony Woodcock. He played for my beloved Nottingham Forest and was part of the championship winning side of 1978. So I have to include him in my novel, being as it's about football. Wouldn't it be cool if I could meet him at my book launch?

PS Actually wouldn't it be cool if I just had a book launch!

My Novel

Since this little fella has arrived on the scene, I've not stopped writing. Every night without fail, I'm writing at least 300 words - which makes the grand total of just over 9000 words. So he must have a magic touch, or is that just wishful thinking??!!!

Check Mate

I have to learn to play Chess at some point. Quite a hard thing to do when I've never seen the appeal of most board games. I've never even played scrabble and even if I did, then I'm sure within 5 minutes I would be seeing how many rude words I could make. So this task is going to be a toughie. But I like a challenge. So for the next week my bedtime reading is going to be Chess For Beginners - riveting stuff eh!
