On hearing my plans, Mr M has decided he wants to learn too. Although he knows a little about the game, he wants to try and improve his skills. So I guess we are now one of those couples, you know the ones that do joint activities together. I guess it had to happen sometime soon!
PS I would just like to state that neither now or sometime in the future will we ever be purchasing matching anoraks.

Chess was always one of those things that my dad and my brother wanted me to do with them, but all the strategy stuff and thinking ahead always gave me a headache! Chess is so not for me. I hope you have better luck.
There is nothing sad about learning to play chess together... I mean, who better to pit your wits against, once you have grasped the concepts, than your other half!
Michelle - I hope I do too! For some reason I never learnt this at school, so I'm looking forward to the challenge.
Tabby - It's just the whole joint activities thing - as I said it sounds like we are only one step away from matching anoraks!
hmm don't worry - i'm sure a thermos flask would have to come before you considered matching anoraks, and that can be your early warning sign... As soon as you see a thermos STEP AWAY from the joint activities!
Tabby - point noted - I will stay clear of anything resembling a thermos flask!
